INTERVIEW
WWW.VJESNIK.HR,
17 February 2007
Excerpt from the interview with H.E. Robert Bradtke, U.S. Ambassador to Croatia
Croatia has taken over a leading role in this part of the world
How would you assess the Croatian path towards NATO membership?
I think a lot of progress has been made. Once again I would like to mention the meeting between Prime Minister Sanader and President Bush. Moreover, we have also witnessed positive steps in securing public support for NATO membership. It is exceptionally praiseworthy to see that a special committee led by Prime Minister Sanader, President Stjepan Mesić and the Chairman of the Croatian Parliament Vladimir Šeks has been established, because it shows Croatian citizens that the highest ranking leadership of Croatia supports NATO membership. The Ambassador of the Croatian Mission to NATO, Mr. Davor Božinović, was appointed coordinator for this process of receiving public support. These are all important steps towards getting public support that was discussed in Washington.
